INTRODUCTION:

One of the most valuable revelations of the New Testament concerns the work of the precious Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. Deficiency in this truth is costly for very Christian. Sadly, He is quite widely misunderstood across the body of Christ. That’s not your portion! Although Scripture uses several impersonal symbols of the Holy Spirit (such as fire, living water, wind, dove, oil and so forth), we will not relate with Him properly if we don’t realise that He’s the third Person of the Holy Trinity. Just as in our human relations, understanding each other is vital to meaningful interaction. As far as spiritual growth and victory go, understanding the personality of the Spirit is absolutely important. Knowing how to relate with the Spirit can help spur your growth geometrically and bless your life immensely. Below are just twenty traits the Bible reveals about the Spirit’s personality. Reflect on and take full advantage of a sound understanding of the Heavenly Helper’s personal traits.

1. THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Mark 13:11
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. John 16:13

2. THE HOLY SPIRIT CALLS TO MINISTRY
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. Acts 13:2

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts 20:28

3. THE HOLY SPIRIT REMINDS
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

4. THE HOLY SPIRIT HEARS
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. John 16:13

6. THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES.
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. Luke 12:12
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Co 2:13

7. THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. John 16:13
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Rom 8:14
8. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS HUMAN HEARTS
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. John 16:8

9. THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE GRIEVED
But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them. Isaiah 63:10
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

10. THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALS THE FUTURE
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. Luke 2:26
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 1 Co 2:10

11. THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE BLASPHEMED AGAINST
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Mark 3:29

12. THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE LIED TO
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? Acts 5:3

13. THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN BE RESISTED
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Acts 7:51

14 THE HOLY SPIRIT COMFORTS
Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied. Acts 9:31

17. THE HOLY SPIRIT COUNSELS
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Isa 11:2
“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin. Isaiah 30:1
18. THE HOLY SPIRIT CREATES
The Spirit of God has made me,
And the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Job 33:4

19. THE HOLY SPIRIT SETS FREE
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:2

20. THE HOLY SPIRIT INTERCEDES
Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Rom 8:27
