“When Abram was 99 years old, Yahweh appeared to him. He said to Abram, “I am El Shadday. Live in my presence with integrity” (Genesis 27:1, NOB).
The fourth divine name for our meditation, El-Shadday, appears around 48 times in the Hebrew Bible. It depicts God as the All Powerful One, Almighty God, the Omnipotent, God of All Sufficiency. It’s significant that when God was about to do the impossible in Abraham’s life, He identified Himself as the Omnipotent One. When El Shadday was about to change the patriarch’s life irreversibly, He demanded integrity. Yet it’s not a detached “help-yourself” demand! Rather His omnipotence infuses supernatural capacity into our weakness. His all-sufficiency breathes life and abundance into our poverty. That name shouts in our hearts, “He’s able! All things are possible! He’s mighty to save! My God shall supply all your needs…!” I receive my miracle today, El Shadday!
