“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham” (Mat 1:1).

The book of Matthew can be understood as a New Testament “Genesis” as the word translated genealogy (geneseōs) literally suggests. That’s what Christ came to do for humanity–to usher in a great new beginning. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17). More than new clothes and new gadgets, Jesus came to make US brand new. He came to introduce a “new and living way” and rid our lives of stale, dead religion (Heb. 10:20). May that be your experience this Christmas!
