So when they met together, they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6).
Our questions have a critical role in our quest to “grow and flow in the Spirit”. Whereas the disciples’ question was nationalistic, Jesus’ focus was global. The reason for their question probably related to their sense of victory and readiness after Jesus’ resurrection. True, the time was ripe for the Kingdom, but of God, not of Israel. One great thing the disciples did was to ask the right Person. Hence the Lord corrected their misconception and error. Let’s not presume answers to our life issues and problems. Let us “take it to the Lord in prayer”. May the Holy Spirit rectify our misconceptions about God’s agenda and our divine assignment today. May we not seek to establish our own empires but cry out, “Thy Kingdom come!”
