“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
There are three clear stages in this verse. 1. First, the Holy Spirit comes upon you. 2. His presence produces power in you. 3. As a result you become Christ’s witness. Thus: Spirit > Power > Witness. Disrupting this sequence makes us spiritually dysfunctional. For instance, a Christian who’s Spirit-filled but doesn’t share his faith is living a spiritually unhealthy or abnormal life. Also one who desires power without the Holy Spirit runs the risk of receiving a demonic substitute. Most believers today are spiritually sick and don’t even know it! Let’s change that today by grace through faith. Amen?
