“For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe” (Hebrews 5:13).
This text is a rebuke to believers who insist on feeding on spiritual milk ad infinitum. It’s a corrective to long-standing believers’ reluctance to partake of meatier stuff. God is not pleased when we don’t desire deeper spiritual truths. He’s not pleased when we despise more robust teaching. He’s not pleased with us if we are content with sermons that massage our egos and make us feel good about ourselves. We must be willing to be stretched and challenged in our knowledge and skill in the “word of righteousness”. Will you do that this year?
