“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection” (Heb. 6:1a).
After laying the necessary, strong, spiritual foundation, we must build the rest of the house! The term translated “perfection” here refers to the idea of completion or maturity. The context uses the language of construction. Dear Christian, are you motivated to complete your spiritual house? We’re talking about your spiritual maturity as the spiritual house you must keep building–line upon line, layer upon layer, day after day, consistently and urgently. Sadly, some houses are never completed, NOT because of a lack of resources, or the unavailability of expert builders, but purely due to apathy, ignorance or other factors! That’s not your portion! I see you determined to “go on to perfection” this year–come what may. Hallelujah! (To be continued…).
