“So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).

Have you noticed that we often behave as if we have two mouths and one ear? It’s not accidental that God designed us with just one mouth but twin ears! We should do less talking and more listening. If we could get this order right, our lives would be more balanced, we would dramatically reduce our stress and conflicts. Even our prayers would not be monologues, but dialogues. We should allow the Holy Spirit to also speak to us! Will you change that today? Will you train yourself to talk less and listen more? Will you let God speak once and you hear twice? Will you be swift, not slow, to hear? Then your hearing faculties will be sharpened. Then you’ll hear your Good Shepherd’s voice more clearly and regularly (John 10:3-5). Then you’ll maximise your victory and minimise losses. Hallelujah!
