“Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity…” (Hebrews 6:1a).

There are two key steps to this instruction. First, we must determine to abandon the elementary stage in Christ. We have to want to part ways with an infant spirituality and get fed up of our childish piety. Then the second step can kick in: advancing to higher levels spiritually. The word used here (pherōmetha) literally means to be borne (carried) along to maturity or completeness (teleiotēta). We can’t do it on our own. We’ve to let the Spirit take us to that place God intends–by grace through faith. To sum up, without abandoning the milk phase, there’s no advancing to perfection. Today prayerfully agree with God’s Word and declare it.
