“As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly” (Pro 26:11).
Sometimes God’s Word uses very strong word pictures, such as this disgusting simile, to awaken us to the seriousness of our errant ways. The bottom line is that it’s not acceptable at all for believers to mess with their repentance. As the bride of Christ, the Church must not flirt with the world. True repentance is about having an irreversible paradigm shift, away from Satan, sin and the world. When we are truly disgusted with the kingdom of darkness, we are truly ready to enjoy the Kingdom of Light. When we resolutely reject the world’s system, then are we ready to embrace the “excellence of the knowledge of Christ” (Phi 3:8). Then are we ready to receive what eye has not seen, ear has not heard and the heart has not conceived (1 Cor. 2:9). We can’t have it both ways. Don’t let the lure of your former folly rob you of God’s unsearchable riches. No more turning back!
