“Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance” (Mat 3:8).
Prophet John’s rebuke of these 1st Century religious folks still rings true in our ears today. These folks certainly knew their theology. They’d mastered the Torah. They’d committed chunks of Scripture to memory. They knew their synagogue hymns. They dressed well in their Sabbath best. But they behaved like a brood of vipers! Their serpentine lives didn’t fool the last prophet of the OT and God. Their fruits contradicted their faith. Their works belied their words. Neither can we fool our Lord today. When we are truly converted, there must be tangible evidence. Let the fruits of your repentance manifest today consistently.
