“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…” (Ac 2:42).

The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the Early Church produced a remarkable passion to receive teaching. Note that it wasn’t a mere toleration, but a real devotion to the apostles’ doctrine that was their portion. There’s a passion for the Word that is only birthed by the Spirit of God. A fascination with dreams and visions is not good enough my friends! We must absolutely love to receive biblical instruction in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). Instead of settling for religious entertainment, we must insist on revelational education. Neither should we be excited about just any general teaching, but about the apostles’ teaching. Why? The term apostle literally means “one sent on a mission”. Every serious Christian must love to sit at the feet of these messengers of Christ, specially called, anointed and appointed to equip the saints (Ep. 4:11). May a Mary-like voracious appetite for relevant, regular teaching at the feet of your Pastor fill your heart this year! (See Luke 10:39).
