“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes” (Mar 1:22).

Jesus’ audiences were constantly astonished by the potency and effect of His words. In a world of multiple religions, viewpoints and delusions, it’s so hard to be truly authoritative. Public Relations experts and Rhetoricians can coach one to speak with conviction, poise and skill. However, there comes a time when people want the truth and nothing but the truth. There comes a point when people won’t settle for mere platitudes and slogans. Human ideas are no match for divine revelation. Religious dogmas are no substitute for anointed utterance. Cultural rituals can’t replace encounter with God. It’s one thing to talk about God. That’s theology. It’s quite another for one to speak from genuine acquaintance, anointing and revelation of God. May your testimony make a difference for God in your spheres of influence. May your light shine brilliantly for the Lord where you are. May the Spirit’s presence and power set you apart from your peers.
