“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (Jo 15:7).
We have already seen that one benefit of abiding in Christ is fruitfulness and prolific one for that matter. Today we learn the awesome result of abiding in Christ and letting His words abide in us. At face value it’s like a heavenly blank cheque! Imagine a life where every desire of yours is granted, no questions asked! Beloved, this is not wishful thinking. According to our faithful Redeemer, we CAN reach the stage in our walk with Christ where ALL our prayers are answered. Here’s the catch: as long as we abide in Him and His wisdom fills our minds, there’s no way we can request something that doesn’t honour God. The presence of God and His mindset within us will eliminate any unworthy desires and prayers. You see, beloved, real prayers are preceded by desire. If our desires are misguided, so will our prayers. Remaining vitally connected to Jesus will affect our whole lives and rewire our heart’s desires such that we won’t ever pray amiss.
