“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness” (Gal 5:22).

As we continue our coverage of the wisdom of spiritual fruitfulness, we turn to the classic Pauline text on the subject. This list comprises virtues that all flow from the primary spiritual fruit–love. We recall that Jesus Himself teaches His disciples that the hallmark of their witness for Him is their love for each other (Jo 13:34-35). Beloved, our life testimony will not make sense or impact the world as long as we don’t learn to walk in love toward each other. Our Galatians text sheds further light regarding 8 ways to cultivate the fruit of love in our lives. But suffice it to say that our Lord instructs us to abide in His love (Jo 15:9). That means we must resolve to allow the love of God reign and drive everything we do. It’s not always easy, but it’s the right thing to do and the Spirit our Helper is always on hand to assist us. Let the love of Christ constrain your life and motivate all your labour in the Kingdom.
