“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you” (Jo 15:16).

Jesus did not handpick His disciples in order to just make up the numbers! He came on a divine, eternal and serious Kingdom mission. That mission didn’t end with His Ascension. It’s ongoing. Therefore every Christian disciple today is also deliberately chosen for the same purpose. Firstly, we were specifically chosen in order to go out there and bear fruit. Our faith is not for fun my dear friends! The Lord further points out two critical qualities pertaining to the fruit we must bear. I. We must produce fruit in abundance. God isn’t interested in some modest impact for His Kingdom by His elite troops! Why do we settle for meagre results? Let’s change that today. Go for bumper harvests in the Spirit. Stop thinking small! We must desire to maximise our results. We must repent from a minimalist mentality. II. Our fruit must remain. Good Christians think long term. The Kingdom projects you undertake must endure the test of time. We mustn’t start ministries with short term goals in mind. The leaders we mentor must be permanently equipped. Whatever we do for Christ musty be built to last. We must repent from a temporary mentality. Secondly, Jesus says if we bear such quality of fruit, the Father will be only too glad to grant everyone of of our requests. Let that be your portion!
