“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” (Rev 12:11).

I’ve observed with sadness that many good Christians don’t know the awesome extent of their victory through Christ’s finished work on Calvary. As a result, they exhibit a victim and defeatist mentality. That’s not your portion in Jesus’ mighty name! In our text, the Apostle John receives remarkable insights into the dynamics of believers’ victory over the “great dragon”, aka the devil aka Satan. Scripture does not downplay the slanderer’s terrible evilness, menace and malice–hence the imagery of the fiend as a mega-dragon. However, the Word points out how our victory is assured in Christ against all odds. The weapons at our disposal are infinitely superior to Satan’s worst tactics. The Blood of the Lamb is the first piece in our supernatural arsenal we must become adept at using. Our adversary can handle our theology, traditions and titles, but he can’t withstand the Blood of the Lamb. At the same time, we have to apply the blood by means of the word of our testimony. It’s not good enough to mentally know the power of the Blood without confessing or declaring it upon our lives, growth, health, families, ministries, work and assets. Let’s appropriate this potent weapon everyday this week. There the devil can do us no harm!
