“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Re 12:9).

The Bible employs various terms to describe the devil’s nature and tactics with a view to forewarn and forearm us accordingly. In our text the enemy of our souls is depicted as a great, fierce dragon. Now, that’s just a graphic depiction of the devil’s nature and intent. It alerts us to the reality and presence of an extremely evil spiritual personality in our world. Behind the evil going on around us today lurks a vicious, furious and ferocious prince of darkness. May we discern the evilness sufficiently disguised to fool the naive among us! It’s not your portion to fall for the dragon’s wicked devices unawares. We are not ignorant of Satan’s devices (2 Cor. 2:11), hallelujah! Our victory stems from knowing that greater is He that is within us than he that is in the world (1 Jo 4:4). Let us boldly decree and declare that today.
