“However, Mary continued to treasure all these things in her heart and to ponder them” (Lu 2:19).
The precious, life-changing, blessing-producing word of God can easily be lost from our hearts through leakage or theft if we don’t watch it. It takes effort to retain the revelation of God within your heart. It’s not automatic! Wise believers, like Mary, know how to retain precious truth within them. Unwise believers neglect the seed-word: “And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts” (Mar 4:15). Every word you’ve heard from God has potential to produce incalculable profit for you (2 Tim 3:16). Don’t let it leak from the reservoir of your heart. Consider what happened when Mary treasured the seed-word she received! She conceived the Messiah and gave the whole world the Saviour and blessing we all desperately needed. I wonder what blessings are linked to your retention of God’s word! Emulate Mary’s example: treasure, appreciate, listen to, meditate upon, confess, sing, recite, share, tweet, memorise, believe and do the Word of God. The spiritual harvest is worth it!
