“You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition” (Mar 7:8).

Harmful traditions are not necessarily secular or irreligious. They often comprise theological views that reinterpret the pure Word erroneously. For instance, some otherwise good Christians don’t receive and flow in the gifts of the Spirit (charismata) because of errant church traditions that have convinced them that all such “stuff” is a thing of the past or the preserve of certain chosen ministers! Some don’t speak in tongues sufficiently or at all because they’ve not fully accepted this precious gift as necessary or desirable. Never mind that the Word clearly states that glossolalia and other spiritual gifts are an integral part of our New Creation heritage (Mar 16:17; Ac 2:3-4; Ac 10:46; 1 Cor. 14:39 et al).

Beloved, don’t accept anything that dilutes, limits or denies the power of God’s Word in your life. Don’t tolerate any theology that robs you of God’s supernatural blessing, healing and favour. If the Word says it’s yours, believe, receive and flow in it. Forget the traditions of men!
