“And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting” (Ac 2:2).

A third notable feature of the Spirit’s descent we consider today is the SPACE filling. Before God’s presence filled the people (v4), it filled the place (v2). Brethren, where do we get this spirituality that leaves our environment unscathed? We’re not referring to special effects here! We mean instead that the holy presence of God will electrify the very atmosphere around us. Then all present will sense that we’re standing on holy ground (Ex 3:5).

Today’s worshippers and ministers play in the sanctuary because they lack that sense of awe stemming from the tangible presence of God in our services. We are quite happy to have church without the glory! Sinners are not convicted among us because nothing extraordinary is going on. God forbid! “So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God” (2 Chr 5:14). May the glory of God charge and saturate our space and sanctuary!
