“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD” (Psalm 27:14).

This verse caps off the psalmist’s prayer for deliverance from the threats of his enemies. It represents God’s response to the petitioner’s trustful prayer. The response implores the godly to wait for the LORD in spite of the challenges. Beloved, certain threats can easily stampede us into taking hasty actions. Sometimes we are tempted to take matters into our own hands. This may take the form of shortcuts, gambles or compromises. It takes courage to depend on God in the face of shortages, strife or other storms. It takes resilience to overcome the lure of the easy way. The very act of waiting on Yahweh is often a miracle greater in its own right than the resolution of the problem. Wait, I say, on the Lord!
