“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit…And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit” (Gal 5:25; Ep 5:18).

Today we compare two biblical ways that describe our relationship with the precious Holy Spirit–living in and being filled with the Spirit. A good way to understand the difference involves identifying who lives in whom. For instance, when I live in the Spirit I’m the one who resides in the “house” of the Holy Spirit. I am in Him. I am at home in the presence of the Holy Spirit. I am totally dependent on Him. I’m always aware of His presence and relevance.

On the other hand, when I’m filled with the Holy Spirit, He occupies my life. He resides in my “house” with full control. He is in me. He is at home in my heart and life. He initiates programmes. He empowers me to do His will. Beloved, what happens when I am fully in Him and He is fully in me? Amazing, God-glorifying results, victory and influence happen. Way to go!
