‘While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you. Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”’ (Ac 10:19-20).
In this poignant story, the Holy Spirit is busy coordinating events on several fronts. He moves Cornelius to dispatch envoys to find Peter. He shows the Apostle a vision pertaining to what the Spirit is about to do with respect to the conversion of Gentiles. The Spirit then informs Peter about the guests he’s about to receive and the purpose of their visit. Eventually Peter goes to Cornelius’ house, ministers the Gospel and the latter’s entire household is gloriously saved and Spirit-filled. The Holy Spirit thus expertly orchestrates the very timing of events.
Perfect timing, relevant connection and fruitful ministry are hallmarks of the Spirit’s leadership in this narrative. As a consequence, the impact is far-reaching as well as groundbreaking. Let that be your portion.
