“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit” (Ju 1:20).

We’re still pursuing the subject of maximising our sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading in this corrupt world. Our text instructs believers to regularly edify themselves in the faith and to pray in the Spirit. Scripture explains clearly how we can do this: “The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church” (1 Cor. 14:4). Since this is a sure way of edifying one’s inner man, we must practice this spiritual technique more frequently. We must do our best “to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man” (Ep 3:16). When your inner man is consistently fully charged, flowing with the Spirit and walking in victory are a matter of course. Let that be your portion everyday.
