“And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions” (Mat 22:46).
It’s not true that we should treat everybody equally! Jesus took all honest seekers after salvation seriously, but He dealt with mere detractors decisively. In line with His teaching, He did not cast pearls before swine (Mat 7:6). We likewise shouldn’t treat genuine enquirers on par with tempters. As His disciples, His wisdom is equally available to us today (1 Cor. 1:30). We too must not only have good answers for those who seek clarity about our faith (1 Pet 3:15), but we must also know how to deal with frivolous critics and how to confound our adversaries. Mature believers care to discern the difference, lest they invest precious Kingdom time in futile ministry. Christ’s wisdom is our portion.
