“As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven” (1 Cor. 15:48).

No human escapes the reality of our genetic resemblance to our common earthly progenitor, the first Adam. Our inheritance of his physical traits, flaws and potential is plain for all to see. What eludes some believers today is our inescapable resemblance to the last Adam, Jesus Christ. How awesome it is that we’re destined to be like Jesus, the last Adam, a life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45)!

Beloved, why do we not affirm our likeness with Christ more? We shouldn’t reiterate the obvious–that we’re earthly. Rather, we must frequently affirm our heavenly identity. As joint heirs with Christ, we share His divine wisdom, knowledge and power (Rom 8:17). We live on earth with a heavenly perspective.
