‘And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”‘ (1 Kings 17:41).

The sound of rain that Elijah heard in this story wasn’t picked up by physical ears because no rain clouds were in the atmosphere until later (v46). It’s the prophet’s spiritual ears that heard the precious sound of abundant rain. The sound was so compelling that he boldly ordered King Ahab to prepare for a sure downpour. Elijah here illustrates at least two valuable faith principles we should also employ.

The first is: Faith comes by hearing (Rom 10:17). In every season there’s a relevant word that will connect you to your breakthrough. May your spiritual ears be sensitive enough to pick it up.

The second faith principle is: We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7).

Boldly trust God for your breakthrough and begin to praise Him before you see any visible sign.
