Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.” (Gen. 41:16)

How should we respond when a platform with the high and mighty presents itself? I’m sure our carnal egos wouldn’t hesitate to blow their own trumpets. Not so with Joe! He was the epitome of modesty even after such a glowing recommendation by the guilt-stricken butler. Although he was quite aware of, confident and competent in his gifting, Joseph attributed it solely to God. Beloved, we shouldn’t pretend that the charismata are our own personal possessions. Like Paul, we must admit that nothing good dwells in our flesh  (Rom 7:18). We must not get carried away by our spiritual success, beloved. Neither should we be fascinated and enchanted by the accolades, applause and recognition we may get. Like Joseph, we shall experience the unparalleled promotion God reserves only for those who humble themselves (Jam 4:10).
