“So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding” (Pro 2:2-3).

To recap, we’re considering still how to cultivate the ground of our inner being in order to optimise our reception of the seed-word of God. We learnt from Mark 4:20 that doing so will also maximise the harvest of the Word in our lives (from thirtyfold to sixtyfold or hundredfold).

Now then, our text so far unpacks three features of the anatomy of wisdom reception that must harmonise. These are: our ears, hearts and mouths. When your spiritual ears are constantly set and alert to divine wisdom, your mouth constantly cries out for divine truth and your inner man (heart) meditates on the same continually, then you’re geared for uncommon growth.

Beloved, we must harmonise our hearing, our talk and our meditation around God’s Word if we desire to profit maximally from divine truth (see also Jos 1:8). There must be no conflict between our spiritual hearing, our confession and our meditation. Our aural, vocal and mental faculties must synchronise in the Spirit for our benefit and God’s glory. If one of these is misaligned, it can upset the spiritual order and delay our harvest. I pray that your hearing, your talk and your thoughts will cooperate for your utmost spiritual victory, growth and influence.
