“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Cor. 4:7).

Although God demands that we should follow the genuine envoys He appointed for our empowerment (Ep 4:12), some believers really struggle to do so. Why? One cause of such hesitation is some Christians’ preoccupation with their Pastors’ humanness. They tend to be distracted by their mentors’ simplicity, familiarity and fragility. But God’s Word teaches that we must no longer regard people according to the flesh (2 Cor. 5:16). We must remember that all of us, so called clergy and laity alike, have awesome treasure within earthen vessels.

Let not the claylike nature of your spiritual leaders rob you of the blessing deposited in them. Be able to tap into some of their spiritual treasure in spite of any perceived shortcomings. Like Elisha, determine to receive some impartation from your Elijah (2 Kin 2:9).
