“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned” (Rom 12:3).

Beloved, knowledge of this subtle pride is the one thing lacking in many otherwise powerful believers’ lives! It’s their Achilles heel. It’s the only chink in their armour. It’s exactly what stops them breaking through certain spiritual ceilings imposed by the enemy.

Look, while the enemy cannot stop you reaching heaven, he can stop you reaching your destiny here on earth, often by isolating you from your Elijah. The sin of pride is the devil’s choice weapon in this regard. Among other things, it affects teachability. It makes us disinterested in worthy mentorship. It makes us complacent.

Let us humble ourselves and voluntarily pursue worthy and honest spiritual tutorship. Note that spiritual emulation is more than just being open to others’ views. It’s intelligent, intentional following and consultation of a trusted God-given spiritual mentor. That takes uncommon humility and wisdom.
