“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet” (Mat 5:13).

Should we blame unsaved people for living true to their unsaved nature? Why should we expect our legislators, political parties and govt agencies to be peaceful, honest and efficient when the saints are divided, deceptive and decadent? How can we season our society, communities and nations when we join their corruption, conflicts and compromise? If gold rusts, what will iron do?

The Church must accept its responsibility to make a difference in the world. It’s “my people who are called by my Name” who qualify to get God to heal our land (2 Chr. 7:14). We should criticise the world less and chastise ourselves more. We should not judge the world but change it. We’ve got the whole thing the wrong way round, beloved! It’s our duty to influence, improve and illuminate the world (Mat 5:13,16). It’s our mandate to model integrity, industry and sympathy. It’s our calling to showcase unity, peace, love and justice.
