“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (Jo 14:12).

There has been a lot of unnecessary debate, pressure and confusion around the subject of “greater works” in the body of Christ. As far as pressure goes, many ministers have been at pains to prove that “they” can do greater works. But that’s not what the verse’s context (before and after) suggests at all.

How was Jesus able to do great works? By perfectly letting the Father speak and work in and through Him. Likewise, our greater works are all about letting the Father, through the Holy Spirit, speak and work in and through us (see Jo 14:16-18). The “greater” bit has nothing to do with us. It’s only about the greater things God is doing through us. They are His greater works–not ours. So, no more pressure!
