“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever” (Jo 14:16).
Jesus is our Paraclete (Helper or Advocate) with the Father (1 Jo 2:1). The Holy Spirit is another of like kind (allon) not another of a different kind (heteron)–hallelujah! So we have Christ as our Paraclete with the Father, and the Holy Spirit as the Father’s Paraclete with us (see also John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7). Someone represents our best interests in heaven (Jesus) and Someone represents our best interests on earth (the Holy Spirit). In heaven and on earth, we’re covered. Glory to God!
Beloved, the worst mistake we can make is to try to represent ourselves in either realm. We must let our Advocate truly represent us unhindered by our frantic panic, blatant ignorance or foolish haste.
