And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
We’ve seen that one biblical word for works (erga) can be understood in terms of productivity. In your area of service, don’t just go through the motions, or tick boxes or watch the clock. God rewards us for adding value, not for marking time. Think consciously about how you can make a difference, even in your usual areas of ministry or work. If you’re a singer, for instance, mix your singing with love and faith. Aim to edify, comfort or encourage someone in the crowd who needs it. Don’t just focus on the notes, tempo or lyrics. Aim to minister healing, blessing and grace.
