Revelation 2:28
And I will give him the morning star.

The morning star metaphor sounds quite distant to many urban folks today because we’ve not learnt the value of natural lights. On a dark night in the wild, the appearance of Venus (the morning star) in the eastern horizon before sunrise is quite reassuring. Against the backdrop of terror by night, pestilence that stalks in darkness and shadows of death, the appearance of a heavenly light is very encouraging. Biblically, darkness symbolises ignorance, confusion, demonic powers, spiritual blindness, inexplicable diseases, wickedness and secrecy. Whatever “darkness” you face, Jesus–the Bright, Morning Star is all you need. Following Him faithfully guarantees us light in the midst of every form of darkness, wisdom in life’s complexities and clarity in every puzzle.
