Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Physically, vital signs reflect essential bodily functions. Just as medical professionals routinely monitor their patients’ vital signs, so should we spiritually. When any of our basic spiritual functions are performing abnormally, we know it’s time for treatment. The first spiritual vital sign is PRAYER (1 Th 5:17, Lu 18:1). As soon as you realise that your prayer life is growing weak, know that your spiritual health is at risk. Ask the Holy Spirit to refill your heart. Get rid of time wasters and detractors. Never give up! Other vital spiritual signs are thankfulness (1 Th 5:18, Ps 34:1), spiritual fervency (Rom 12:11), spiritual gifts (2Tim 1:6), continual joy (1 Th 5:16, Phi 4:4), word meditation (Josh 1:8; Ps 1:2), stubborn faith (Heb. 11:6), fervent love (1 Pet 4:8) and others.
