Acts 1:8a
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
The Lord’s promise here is far from tentative. It’s not a suggestion, wish or hope. He guarantees dynamic power to everyone who receives the Holy Spirit. Beloved, when the Spirit comes upon you, you may not necessarily quake, scream or act weird, but you’re assured of power. We should stop talking about being weak when we’re Spirit-filled. We should no longer affirm our carnal infirmity once we’re baptised in the Spirit. We mustn’t negate the word of God by our faithless confessions. “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms” (see Ep 1:19-20, NLT). Wow!
