Revelation 3:14
And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God.
Our Lord’s attributes here are worth cherishing and reflecting over for our edification and warning. The first three combine to attest to the absolute certainty, total reliability and incontestable validity of Jesus’ word. How much would our faith be boosted if we had a thorough revelation of the maximum trustworthiness of our Lord’s message and character? How prompt would we be to mend our ways if we fully grasped the certainty of His judgment? How powerful would our prayers be, how genuine would our piety be and how sober would our lifestyles be! Sadly, most of our prayers betray unbelief, doubt and fear rather than fully-persuaded faith. Beloved, let us henceforth dispense with these tentative, hesitant and timid prayers! I dare you to pray with unshakeable confidence in Jesus’ faithfulness.
