Revelation 3:17
Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked…

As far as your spiritual health is concerned, what you say to yourself is of critical importance. What causes us to become lukewarm in our relationship with God, beloved? What dulls our voice of triumph, dims our Gospel light and douses our Pentecostal fire? Jesus attributes the problem to complacency. When you’re satisfied with the status quo and have no desire to improve, you cannot grow in grace. The Holy Spirit will not fill you when you don’t admit your hunger and thirst for God. Divine revelation will not be yours when you lean on your own understanding. Every morning, say to Jesus, “As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee” (Ps 42:1).
