2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Thirty times in the Gospel of Matthew the Lord Jesus says, “Amen (verily) I say unto you.” Our Lord does not only say, but is, the Truth. The saints of old used Amen at the end of prayer, or in assenting to the word of God; but none, save the Son of God, ever said, “Amen, I say unto you,” for it is the language peculiar to God, who swears by Himself. Our amen is a plea, “let it be so”. His Amen declares, “It is so”. Jesus’ title the Amen expresses the unchangeable truth of His promises (Rev 3:14). He is the Amen because He guarantees the truth of any statement, and the execution of any promise, made by Himself. He is not a man that He should lie. When Jesus says yes, nobody’s denial matters. Let us hold on to the promises of God without wavering. Understanding the veracity of all His promises is one key to sizzling-hot, fervent, expectant and faith-full prayer.
