Revelation 4:7
The first living creature was like a lion. The second living creature was like an ox. The third living creature had a face like a human being. And the fourth living creature was like an eagle in flight.

There are several views in the body of Christ concerning the identity and meaning of the four living creatures encircling the heavenly Throne. Today we consider the fact that these curious beings have faces like different created things–a lion, an ox, a human and an eagle. Thus they signify all created life. Among other things, the presence of such earthly beings in the heavenly temple speaks of all creation’s obligation to worship the Lord, as the following verses also testify: “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD” (Ps 150:6); “My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: And let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever (Ps 145:21). Beloved, the One who created everything deserves universal adoration. It’s not right for the omnipotent One to receive partial, erratic or random praise. The Almighty deserves universal worship. Until every knee bows before Him and every tongue confesses His Lordship, we are not there yet and the universe is still dysfunctional. Let us play our part today.
