Revelation 5:6
I saw a Lamb in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, standing as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

Having been introduced as the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Root of David, our Lord is now referred to as the Lamb. First we note that this Lamb is at the very core of heaven’s Throne. While we’ve celebrated the fact that the exalted Christ does not abandon His human identity for our advantage, here we learn that He does not abandon His sacrificial identity. Heaven never forgets Calvary! Jesus’ finished work on the Cross is forever accorded centre stage in glory.

Beloved, the Atonement is still central to the Gospel. The Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) remains paramount in the Kingdom of God. He remains the hub and focus of heaven.

Let us restore the Atonement to the heart and nucleus of our personal and corporate worship, liturgy, ministry, business, administration, leadership and all aspects of our lives. Let an awareness of Jesus’ substitutionary sacrifice influence all our relationships, decisions and actions. Let us perceive the world through the lenses of the Atonement. Our experience and influence will never be the same again!
