Revelation 5:9-10
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

A doxology is a form of words used in praise to God especially for His work of creation and redemption. The Bible has many highly inspirational songs of praise, to which class Rev 5:9-10 belongs. They are poetic expressions of intense experience and thought about and toward God.

Oh that the high praises of God would erupt from the depths of our hearts for all that Jesus has done for us! Oh that anointed psalms, hymns and spiritual songs would break out spontaneously among us when we personally approach or gather in Christ’s presence!

Such should be the normal experience of Spirit-filled believers:
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:18-20).

Dear saints, do you know that our worship and prayer-life can become stale, monotonous and boring to God? God forbid! Instead, our dearly loved and grateful hearts should surely express their devotion to Christ in fresh ways. New lyrics of joyful adoration must surely spring forth from our redeemed souls! Will you sing unto the Lamb a new song today? Will you say something fresh to our awesome Redeemer today?
