Revelation 5:12
Saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honour and glory and blessing!”

One of the most remarkable features of heaven, as depicted in the book of Revelation is its emphasis on the ways and words of worship. Today’s verse is the fourth song of praise (doxology) in a space of just two chapters.

Whereas the first end-time doxology was rendered by the 24 elders, the second by the four creatures, the third by the four creatures plus the 24 elders, this fourth doxology is given by myriads of angels plus the four creatures plus the 24 elders.

There’s a definite growth in worship momentum here. As more and more of the will and plan of God are revealed, the “volume” of worship increases. The lyrics also change. As more truth is unveiled, the intensity of worship rises. As revelation increases, so does the worship.

As individuals and corporately, let the quality and intensity of our worship likewise grow as we grow in our knowledge of Christ. Let us reject a monotonous worship lifestyle.
