Revelation 5:12
Saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honour and glory and blessing!”

Today we consider the second basis of praise–His RICHES. We now know that to say the Lamb is worthy to receive riches is not a reference to His lack, need or poverty. Rather, it is our acknowledgement of the super abundance of His resources. Indeed, God is worthy to receive our appreciation of His infinite wealth.

Beloved, a poor appreciation of divine abundance is a huge stumbling block to authentic worship. It is wrong for us to project our inadequacies, lack and poverty upon the Lord. We shouldn’t project our scarcity mentality on God. The Kingdom of God is infinitely rich. We must approach God on the grounds of His abundance, and not on the basis of our poverty.

That’s exactly what Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:25-34. In that part of the Sermon on the Mount, our Lord portrays God as the benevolent, extravagantly wealthy and totally responsible Father who feeds, clothes and takes care of all His creation–lesser and greater, flora and fauna, nonhuman and human. Please check it out.

Worship the Lamb of God on the grounds of the riches of His goodness and patience (Rom 2:4), the riches of His glory (Rom 9:23, Phi 4:19), the riches of His wisdom and knowledge (Rom 11:33), and the exceeding riches of His grace (Ep 2:7), to mention a few examples. Then all these things shall be added unto us (Mat 6:33).
