1 Thessalonians 5:3
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

It is alarming that our expectations, priorities and analyses can be totally wide off the mark as far as the Day of the Lord is concerned. If we don’t awaken to the truth, we’ll be caught unawares like the rest of the unbelieving world. God forbid!

Yet it is heartening that God does not expect believers to be caught by surprise, for the Bible says, “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief” (1 Th 5:4). While it is true that none of us can predict the Parousia precisely, yet Scripture is clear about the fact that we must know the signs of the end.

We must not be afraid to delve deeper into the Scriptures. End time truths must not remain mysterious to seasoned Christians! It’s ok to have questions about some of the detail, but it’s unacceptable for us to be as ignorant as infidels about the most important period in human history.

We should be able to interpret history and current affairs and trends in the light of God’s prophetic calendar. I pray that in the weeks and months ahead, if our Lord tarries, you’ll beef up your mastery of Biblical prophecy (eschatology). The Second Coming must not catch you unawares and unprepared!
