1 John 2:18
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.
Certain aspects regarding the Second Coming are still subject to debate among genuine Christians today. However, there should be no such question about whether the last days are upon us or not. The Bible settles that question here on two fronts.
Firstly, the inspired writer simply issues a categorical statement of the fact, “It is the last hour”. If no other reason exacts, the reality argument suffices.
Secondly, the increase in the number of antichrists in the world today confirms the terminal nature of the present age. Please understand that the term antichrist doesn’t just mean “against Christ”, but “false Christ”, just like fake money. Our world and Christendom today have no shortage of such impostors.
Brethren, the power of any antichrist–just like counterfeit money–is in its imitation of the genuine Christ. Nobody would be deceived by fake notes if they did not closely resemble true money. The power of impostors is in their similarity to the genuine, not their difference!
Likewise, antichrists talk, dress and behave much like authentic Christian ministers. Jesus says these false Christ’s are so good at their game that the very elect (truly born-again Christians) are at risk of being deceived (Mat 24:24)! May the Spirit of Truth lead and deliver us from the spirit and deception of antichrist, in Jesus’ mighty name.
