Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

There is a deception that comes from the mistaken idea that we can mock God! To mock God is to despise, ridicule or underestimate His wisdom, power or goodness. That’s exactly what we are doing when we think that somehow we can get away with the consequences of our evil actions. That’s precisely what we are implying when we suppose that finite people can cheat the omniscient God. It’s not only foolish, brethren, it’s self deception!

Whenever you knowingly ignore or break one of God’s commandments, you are mocking God. And you deceive yourself. For instance, refusing to tithe is equal to defying God’s express command and His wisdom (Mal 3:10). It’s the same as despising God’s wisdom and His faithfulness. We are saying we don’t trust His Word. It’s mocking Him.

We must not kid ourselves that the various kinds of seed–good and bad– we constantly sow will not yield a corresponding harvest. The lies we speak behind closed doors, the unjust criticism we dish out and the schemes we hatch–all are seeds that will yield an unwanted harvest in due course.

Choose only to plant good seeds everyday of your life, will you? “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Gal 6:9).
